I remember a friend talking about destroying the ego with LSD, and I wondered if the act of "I'm going to destroy it", and even the intention itself, only made "it" even more prominent in ways contrary to what's expected when something is "destroyed".
My intention wasn’t explicitly “I’m doing this to destroy my ego” it was more about reaching spiritual highs where my ego was non-existent.
This intention definitely fed my ego for a while, especially since, at first, I was having incredible and ecstatic mystical experiences. They turned sour eventually, and then my ego was just getting slapped around, and destroyed.

If misguided, psychedelics will inflate any ego.
